Olduvai Gorge Archaeological Site
The Olduvai Gorge is an archaeological site in Northern Tanzania,
where some of the earliest signs of humanoid life on earth were discovered.
It is a narrow ravine, about 30 miles long and 300 feet wide, that is
situated between Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.
Excavations were carried out in this area by Louis Leakey and his
wife Mary Leakey. There is a small museum at the site and
some of the excavations have been preserved for public viewing.
