Tiwai Island Wildlife Sanctuary
Wildlife sanctuary and community conservation program on Tiwai Island in the Moa River of Sierra Leone. Wildlife on Tiwai Island include more then ten species of primates, the pygmy hippopotamus, and more then 100 species of birds. There two beaches on the north side of Tiwai Island, but note that they are usually only above water during the non-rainy season. Visitors can walk on several miles of trails within the park to view the park's wildlife and enjoy the natural setting.

Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Sanctuary established to rescue orphaned and captured chimps. Scheduled tours are available and accommodations are available in two traditional roundhouses and two tree canopy units, all with prices that include breakfast and a sanctuary tour. The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary is located about a 30 minute drive from Freetown.
